People often ask where they can get a decent German beer whilst watching football in the pub. I don't have much of a clue, as I prefer motorsports and surfing, but I know that Quinns and the Porterhouse in London often show international or major British matches, and Quinns often also often has major Irish sports events on the TV. Don't make any assumptions -- always phone first, as it's a shame to hike all the way to a pub and find they're showing a different match.
Hugo's bar-restaurant in the Goethe-Institut London does not show football on TV (I checked this with them in June 2004).
www.thesportscafe.com has branches in London, Birmingham and Manchester and focuses on major international events, so you may well find German football there, but I'm told it's very crowded and expensive and I don't know if it stocks any German beers.
Check out LondonNet's guide to London sports pubs [www.londonnet.co.uk/ln/out/ent/bars_features.html] for alternative venues in the capital.
Your best source of information is probably www.sportspubs.co.uk. It's a detailed database of pubs that show sporting events — not just in London.
